Raymond B. Oberholzer
Raymond B. Oberholzer, age 86 a resident of the Penn Hall Nursing Center of Chambersburg and formerly of Shady Grove, PA died at 5:00 A.M. Monday, November 26, 2012 in the nursing center.
Born October 9, 1926 in Greene Twp. Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Aaron and Vallie (Barkdoll) Oberholzer. He and his wife, Ruby C. (Zeger) Oberholzer, a resident of the Penn Hall Retirement Community were married August 15, 1948 in Shady Grove.
Raymond was an electrician and home contractor having owned Oberholzer''s Electric. In June 1997, he retired after 17 years as the assistant director of maintenance at Menno Haven of Chambersburg.
He was a member of the Trinity Fellowship Church of The Brethren (formerly Prices) of Waynesboro where he served on various church committees. Raymond was a member of Gideon''s International, served on the Greencastle-Antrim School Board and did volunteer work for several years at Menno Haven. He enjoyed woodworking, making furniture and chair caning.
Surviving family in addition to his wife of 64 years are one son Raymond B. (wife Cindy) Oberholzer Jr., Boonsboro, MD, five daughters Ramonna S. (husband Scott) Dayley, Greencastle, Rebecca D. (husband Ray) Shultz, Waynesboro, Rosanne K. (husband Arlen) Lindsay, Greencastle, Rayetta J. (husband Gene) Spangler, Mercersburg, Rhonda J. (husband Mac) McClelland, Nashville TN, three sisters Vada Henesey, Hagerstown, MD, Inez (husband Lester) Culp, Goshen, IN, Rachel Horst, Chambersburg, thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother Wilmer Oberholzer and one sister Josephine Grove.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 1 at 10:30 A.M. from the Trinity Fellowship Church Of The Brethren 10610 Wayne Hwy. Waynesboro with the ministry of the church officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining Antietam Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Saturday.
