Ray J. Spangler

Ray J. Spangler, age 90, of State Line, PA, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Quincy Village. Born July 19, 1929, in Washington County, MD he was the son of the late Howard and Clara Irene Burger Spangler.

A tool and die maker, Mr. Spangler worked for the former Fairchild Industries and at the former Grove Worldwide, where he retired after 38 years of service in 1985. Mr. Spangler enjoyed farming, tractors, taking walks, feeding his birds, and spending time with his family.

Surviving are four daughters; Rose Shearer of Ft. Loudon, PA, Donna Stouffer (husband Carl “Jerry”) of State Line, PA, Diana Jones (husband Robert, Jr.) of State Line, PA, and Robin Blair (husband Randy) of Greencastle, PA; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Fahrney; and a brother, Bill Spangler (wife Ruth Ann). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances G. Spangler in 1999 and three brothers, Guy, Richard, and Paul.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019, at 1 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor John Shubert will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 6 – 8 PM in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Shanks Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to SpiriTrust Lutheran Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
