Ray M. Garber

Ray M. Garber, 94, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at his home. Born on September 25, 1930 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Dennis and Nora Meyers Garber.

Ray was a 1949 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. He then went on to continue his life’s work as a dairy farmer.

Ray is survived by his second wife, Rita Y. Longenecker, whom he married on June 11, 1995; two sons, Roger Garber (wife Margaret) of Chambersburg, and Keith Garber (wife Twilla) of Chambersburg; 2 step-daughters, Marcie Reed of Bethel, PA, Tricia Gipe (husband David) of Covington, OH; one brother, Fred Garber of Chambersburg; 10 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and 18 step-great-grandchildren. Aside from his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Hess Garber; a son, Virgil Garber; and step-son, Timothy Eberly.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Back Creek Meeting House, 4615 Race Track Rd. St. Thomas, PA 17252. The Home Brethren Ministry will officiate. Interment will follow in Browns Mill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 5:00 PM and 6:00 – 9:00 pm on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the Back Creek Meeting House at the address above.
