R. Albert Grosh

R. Albert Grosh, age 86, a resident of the Autumn Assisted Living Center in Hagerstown and formerly of Buchanan Trail East Greencastle died at 2:35 P.M. Thursday April 2, 2009 in the assisted living center.

Born December 12, 1922 in Waynesboro, Pa. he was the son of the late Hubert and Nellie (Helm) Grosh.

He was employed at Wayne Tool Co of Waynesboro for 20 years and later worked at Mack Truck and Grove Worldwide for 22 years.

Mr. Grosh was a member of the Calvary Bible Church of Greencastle and was a life member of the Rescue Hose Co. #1 of Greencastle. He was a member of the Mount Pisgah Lodge #443 F. & A.M. of Greencastle and a member of the Harrisburg Consistory. Mr. Grosh was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He and his wife, Evelyn M. (Barnes) Grosh were married March 28, 1942 in Hagerstown. She died on September 26, 2003.

Surviving family are one son, Darwin A. Grosh, Greencastle, one daughter Doreen M. Diehl, Ringgold, Md., four granddaughters and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Grosh and two sisters Elizabeth Oberholzer and Louise Stull.

Funeral services will be held on Monday April 6 at 11:00 A.M. from the Calvary Bible Church 3845 Buchanan Trail West Greencastle with Rev. Glen A. Miller and Chaplain Steve Taylor officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Sunday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. and at the church one hour before the service on Monday. The Mount Pisgah Lodge #443 will hold a memorial service on Sunday evening at 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
