Preston C. Meyers

Preston C. Meyers, age 84 of 138 East Franklin St. Greencastle, Pa. died Friday evening April 11, 2008 in the emergency room of the Chambersburg Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident earlier that evening on U.S. Rt.11 in Guilford Twp. near Marion.

Born July 15, 1923 in Mercersburg, Pa. he was the son of the late Paul E. and Elizabeth S. (Zimmerman) Meyers.
He was a self-employed carpenter having owned Meyers Construction.
Mr. Meyers was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle where he had served on church council, taught Sunday School and was active in many church activities. He was a life member of the Rescue Hose Co. # 1 of Greencastle. He enjoyed gardening.

He and his wife, Ethel (Hoffman) Meyers were married September 28, 1946 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Surviving family in addition to his wife are, one daughter Sharon Centola of Long Island, N.Y., two sons, Steven D. Meyers of Marion, Pa. and Shawn D. Meyers of Cape May, N.J., one brother Carl R. Meyers of Fayetteville, Pa., six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Helen Mellot in 1969.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 15 at 11:00 A.M. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 North Washington St. Greencastle with Revs. Martin H. Horn and Donald M. Bohn officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Monday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. and at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Memorial Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 N. Washington St. Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
