Phyllis M. Stahl, 84, of Chambersburg, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Quincy Village. Born December 25, 1938 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Abram B. and Irene Hawke Wingert. Her beloved husband, David E. Stahl, whom she married on October 11, 1959, preceded her in death on March 19, 2021.
A homemaker, Phyllis was dedicated to making a home for her family. She was a member of Shanks Church of the Brethren in Greencastle and enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening.
She is survived by two children, Melody Baum (Roy) of Greencastle, and Brad Stahl (Sonya) of Chambersburg; four grandsons, Eric Stahl (Ashley), Evan Stahl (Emilee), Lyle Baum (Sarina) and Austin Baum (Kaitlyn), all of Chambersburg; eight great grandchildren; and her sister, Jean Alleman (Glenn) of Chambersburg. Aside from her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her son, Blake Stahl; and three siblings, Faye Wingert, Joyce Snider, and Dale M. Wingert.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Shanks Church of the Brethren, 983 Shanks Church Road, Greencastle, PA 17225. Rev. Nelson Witmer will officiate. Rev. Brenton Stahl will officiate the graveside service in the adjoining church cemetery immediately following the service in the church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse at samaritanspurse.org.
