Pearl I. Witmer, age 91, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA, and formerly of Rowe Ave., Greencastle, PA died at 6:10 P.M. on Thursday, April 17, 2008 in the nursing center.

Born September 9, 1916 in Montgomery Twp., Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Sadie (Oberholtzer) Myers.

She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle. She volunteered in the Chambersburg Hospital snack bar from 1991-1997. She was a member of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373 of Greencastle, Waynesboro Moose Post #1136, the Williamsport, MD Red Men Lodge #84 and the National AARP.

Mrs. Witmer attended the former Upton School and Lemasters High School. She was the owner/operator of the former Pentz Restaurant of Greencastle from 1949-1967. She later retired from the former Howard Johnson of Chambersburg.

She was the wife of Phares Witmer II. He died on May 20, 1991.

Surviving family are:
Three Step Daughters; Barbara McNew and Terry Trittle both of Chambersburg, PA, and Virginia Miller of Mercersburg, PA.

Three Step Sons; Phares Witmer III, Douglas Witmer, and Shawn Witmer all of Greencastle, PA.

11 Step-Grandchildren & 9 Step Great-Grandchildren
Several Nieces and Nephews

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Pentz, six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle, PA with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, PA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church. It was her request that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be given in her memory to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle, PA 17225.
