Paula Zoretich, 91, of State College, died Friday evening April 24, 2015 at the home of her eldest son in Greencastle, PA.
She was born July 19, 1923 near the town of Pfarrkirchen in Bavaria, Germany, the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Weidl) Maier, and immigrated to Altoona, PA in 1936. In 1952 she married George S. Zoretich who preceded her in death in 1995.
She received her B.A. in Education in 1945 from The Pennsylvania State University, before teaching high school in Ridgway, PA. She then became an Instructor of German and English at Penn State, Dubois Campus where she met her future husband George who was an Instructor of Art. They subsequently moved to State College in 1952 where George was a Professor of Art at Penn State until retiring with the rank of Professor Emeritus in 1985 after thirty-seven years of service to the University.
For more than 60 years, Mrs. Zoretich was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, State College.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Stephen & Julia Zoretich of Greencastle, PA and Thomas & Marion Zoretich of Alexandria, VA, and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 7th at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA. Burial will follow at the Centre County Memorial Park, State College. The Rosary will be said at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA on Wednesday , May 6th at 7:00 P.M.
