Paul I. Strausner, Jr.

Paul I. Strausner, Jr., age 77, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born December 25, 1944, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Paul I. Strausner, Sr. and Anna Mary Barnhart Moser.

Paul was a 1963 graduate of the James Buchanan High School. He worked as a Mechanic at Mack Truck for 35 years, retiring in 2002. Paul was also owner and operator of The Fur Shed and had a mowing business. Not one to be idle, Paul drove Truck for Tice Trucking up until 2 weeks ago. He was a member of Macedonia United Brethren Church, the Pennsylvania Trappers Association, National Trappers Association, and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, cooking a Hot Dog over an open fire, various church functions, coaching his girls in softball, family reunions, and teaching trapping demos for the Boy Scouts.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Sherry “Diane” Cordell Strausner, whom he married April 16, 1966, three daughters, Lori M. Secrist (Charles) of Chambersburg, PA, Kelli J. Pidcoe (John) of Owego, NY, and Joi D. Carr (Christopher) of Greencastle, PA; six grandchildren, Bethany Shatzer (Jared), Logan Helman, Kolby Carr, Camren Pidcoe, Nolan Carr, and Shay Pidcoe; three great-grandchildren, Makenzie Danzberger, Avery  Shatzer, and Preston Paul Carr; and one sister, Margaret Seville, and numerous nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Strausner.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 11 AM at Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Rd., Greencastle, PA, where Pastors Murray B. Stevens and David Rawley will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607.
