Paul O. Kennedy, age 67 of 570 North Allison St. Greencastle, Pa. died at 12:05 P.M. Saturday, February 14, 2009 in the Waynesboro Hospital. He had been in declining health the past several years.
Born March 26, 1941 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, Pa, he was the son of the late Ralph and Anna Mary (Hykes) Kennedy.
Mr. Kennedy was a former sales manager for Vigortone Ag Products of Cedar Rapids Iowa and was last self-employed with R & K Agri Marketing.
He attended Cedar Grove Mennonite Church near Greencastle and served in the volunteer service (1-W) in a hospital in Bronx N.Y. He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School. Paul was a charter member of the Nova Area Ruritan Club and also was active in the Shady Grove and Kauffman Ruritan Clubs over the past 45 years. He managed a team in the Shady Grove Little League, was a Dale Earnhardt fan and enjoyed going to car races with his son. Paul also enjoyed woodworking and deep sea fishing.
He and his wife, Mary E. (Martin) Kennedy were married April 7, 1962 in Greencastle.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are: one daughter, Tammy A. Kennedy, Greencastle; one son, Delbert P. (husband of Trudy) Kennedy, Greencastle; two sisters, Louisa Bair, Chambersburg, Dorothy Martin, Mercersburg; seven brothers, Norman Kennedy, Greencastle, Charles Kennedy, Erie, Pa., Samuel Kennedy, Chambersburg, Isaac Kennedy Sr., Clarksburg, Pa., Ronald Kennedy Sr., Greencastle, Jerome Kennedy, Waynesboro, Pa. and Philip Kennedy Sr., Lemasters, Pa. Three Grandsons, Brandon, Trevor and Devon. Step-mother, Hazel Kennedy of Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother Ralph Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 18 at 10:30 A.M. from the Cedar Grove Mennonite Church 13343 Williamsport Pike Greencastle with Rev. Stephen Fretz officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday.
