Paul S. Carbaugh, age 77 of 5400 Lincoln Way E. Lot 67B Fayetteville, Pa. died unexpectedly Tuesday evening December 16, 2008 in his home.

Born April 5, 1931 in Welsh Run, Pa. he was the son of the late Earl S. and Mary Jane (Sampson) Carbaugh.

He retired after 26 years service in the U.S. Army and also was employed for over 20 years at Letterkenny Army Depot of Chambersburg.

Mr. Carbaugh was a life member of the South Mountain Fish And Game Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He and his wife, Margaret B. "Peggy" (Carpenter) Carbaugh were married December 16, 1950. She died on December 20, 1998.

Surviving family are: Two daughters, Pauline K. Peters and Mary A. Carpenter, both of Fayetteville, Pa. One son, Thomas H. (Husband of Diana) Carbaugh, of Chambersburg, Pa. Two sisters, Edna Evitts, Chambersburg and Earlene Short, of Shippensburg, Pa. Eight brothers, Frank Carbaugh, David Carbaugh, both of Fayetteville, Pa., Ralph Carbaugh, Harold Carbaugh, Guy Carbaugh and Richard Carbaugh, all of Chambersburg, Pa., Harry Carbaugh, of Orrstown, Pa. and Eugene Carbaugh, of Greencastle, Pa. Eight grandchildren and Fifteen Great-Grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Elwood Carbaugh and Kenneth Carbaugh, two grandsons, Paul and Earl Carbaugh and a step granddaughter Melissa Dile.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Henry Barthalow officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard 747 S. Fourth St. Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
