Patricia Ann (Rockwell) Mummert, age 77 of Mercersburg, PA and a resident of ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg died at 4:50 P.M. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in the nursing home. She had been in declining health the past several months.
Born October 17, 1937 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael Roy and Melvina (Mellott) Rockwell. She married William E. Mummert on June 9, 1956 in Mercersburg.
She was a homemaker and in her earlier life she worked as a telephone operator with the United Telephone Co. and Mercersburg Academy. She also was a certified nursing assistant having last worked for Guardian In Home Services.
Patricia was a member of the Macedonia United Brethren in Christ Church near Greencastle where she was a member of the adult Sunday School, sang on the choir, taught Sunday School for over 20 years and served on several commissions. She also was a member of the former Piney Mountain Home Auxiliary Board.
Patricia was a 1955 graduate of James Buchanan High School. Her hobbies and interests included cooking, animals, gardening and music.
Surviving family in addition to her husband William are one daughter Darla Ann Mummert of Mercersburg, one sister Loretta Mae Clark of Mercersburg and four nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday March 8 at 3:00 P.M. at the Macedonia United Brethren in Christ Church 11887 Worleytown Rd. Greencastle with Rev. Milton Herrold Jr. and Rev. Gayle L. Ruble Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Macedonia United Brethren in Christ Church Building Fund 11887 Worleytown Rd. Greencastle, PA 17225.
