Norman D. Hann Sr.

July 9, 1944 — February 3, 2017

Norman D. Hann Sr., age 72 of Greenview Dr. Greencastle, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Friday afternoon February 3, 2017 surrounded by his wife and children.

Born July 9, 1944 in Williamson, PA, he was the son of the late David and Sarah (Henninger) Hann. He married his wife June (Ottoson) Hann on May 14, 1971.

Norm retired from the Frick Co. of Waynesboro. Following retirement, he worked for the Schaad Detective Agency, Greencastle-Antrim School District and for GABSA. He attended Greencastle-Antrim High School with the Class of 1962.

He was a life member with over 50 years of service with the Rescue Hose Co. #1 of Greencastle, social member of the Harry D. Zeigler VFW. Post #6319 of Greencastle, member of the Waynesboro Tigers Alumni, and a member of the Local UAW #1296 of Waynesboro. Norm enjoyed hunting, bowling, golfing and playing pinochle.

Norm’s passion for coaching football spanned several decades from the Greencastle Eagles Midget Football to Greencastle-Antrim High School Blue Devils football team. He took pride in maintaining the GABS complex for many years. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins.

Surviving family in addition to his wife of  over 45 years are one daughter Jennifer Hann of Greencastle, two sons, David Hann and wife Cindy of Greencastle, Norman Hann Jr. of Greencastle, four grandchildren, Dulcie Hann, Jordan Miller, Brady Strite, Sarah Hann, two great-grandchildren, Kaiden Hann, Koden Rowe and a half-brother Quinten Coldsmith and wife Arlene of Waynesboro.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 9 at 11:00 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with William Shilling officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be given in his memory to Rescue Hose Co. #1, 842 S. Washington St. Greencastle, PA 17225 or to the John R.
