Nathan P. Keener
Nathan P. Keener, age 86 of Cearfoss, MD. died peacefully at home on Tuesday afternoon December 25, 2012.
Born July 11, 1926 in Cearfoss, MD, he was the youngest child of the late Aaron David and Anna H. (Martin) Keener. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Retha (Witmer) Keener, five children, N. Larry Keener and his wife Cathy, Kathy Keener Lamb and her husband Greg, Faye Keener, Steve Keener and his wife Dawn, Detra Keener Marshall and her husband Tim. Nathan also has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
He was a member of the Cedar Grove Mennonite Church of Greencastle, charter member of the Community Rescue Service and life member of Maugansville Ruritan.
Nathan was co-founder of the Eversoft Water Conditioning of Maugansville. He also drove a school bus in Washington County Maryland for thirty-two years.
He was an avid lover of gospel and blue grass music, enjoyed attending music concerts in the area and was an outgoing and friendly person who never met a stranger.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 29 at 11:00 A.M. from the Cedar Grove Mennonite Church 13343 Williamsport Pike Greencastle with Pastor Gary L. Zook officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Saturday.
