Myron E. Hawbaker, age 95 a resident of Brookview Health Care Center at Menno Haven, Chambersburg and formerly of Greencastle and Upton, PA died Tuesday morning May 12, 2020 in the health care center.
Born January 15, 1925 in Peters Twp., Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Ira B. and Minnie M. (Etter) Hawbaker. He married his wife Ethel M. (Meyers) Hawbaker on August 30, 1947. She died on July 24, 2002.
Myron retired from farming in 1995 after having farmed 47 years on Lemar Rd. near Upton. In his early life he worked at the former L.E. Beck Nipple Works in Greencastle.
He was a member of the Upton Brethren Church where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent for 15 years and served as church trustee for over 30 years. Myron had also been a member of the Pennsylvania Farmers Association and the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 in Greencastle.
Myron was a 1944 graduate of Greencastle High School and was a World War II Veteran having served in the US Navy from 1944-46.
Surviving family are a number of nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family.
A private graveside service will be held at the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle with Ministers Dennis Sollenberger and Wayne Hawbaker officiating. A private viewing will be held at the Harold M.
