MSGT Kenneth Chester Wing, USAF, Ret.

MSGT Kenneth Chester Wing, USAF, Ret., 66, of Greencastle, died late Saturday afternoon, April 6, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Mrs. Reitta Sue Gurley Wing, his wife of 31 years.

Born October 22, 1946, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Chester John and Eva May Ratcliffe Wing. He graduated Granby Junior-Senior High School, Granby, Massachusetts; and the Community College of the Air Force and University of Illinois College of Engineering.

MSGT Wing served our nation with over 21 years of service; first with the Navy, and retired from the United States Air Force. Licensed through the Department of Transportation as an Aircraft and Power Plant Mechanic, he worked in the military aircraft modification industry.

Ken enjoyed raising and showing horses with his wife, Reitta.

Besides his wife, he is survived by children, E. Wayne Watson and wife Jean, and Michele R. Scott and husband Michael, all of Greencastle, Norman E. Wing and wife Heidi f Lawton, Oklahoma, and Robin Allison and husband Butch of Florida; his grandchildren, Andre Wing stationed in Germany, Paul Hefner and wife Samantha of Chambersburg, Jeffery Hefner of Mascoutah, Illinois, Amanda Watson of Greencastle, William Watson stationed at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, and Damon Watson of Greencastle; as well as he great grandchildren, Andrew Heffner of Chambersburg, and Reitta and Joseph Price of Smithsburg.

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Christy Lynn Watson on October 6, 2008; his first and former spouse, Marie C. Robinson Wing; and a brother and sister.

The family will receive friends locally at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, on Wednesday, April 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at Nelson Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Virginia, on Thursday, April 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be from Nelson Funeral Home, on Friday, April 12, at 11:00 AM with The Rev. Roger Robillard officiating. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park, Richmond.
