Miriam C. (Strite) Eby, age 89 a resident of Menno Haven in Chambersburg and formerly of Greencastle, PA died at 5:10 AM Sunday, September 6, 2015 in the Menno Haven Nursing Center.
Born August 4, 1926 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Amos W. and Gladys (Shafer) Strite. She married D. Melvin Eby a resident of Menno Haven on February 5, 1947.
Miriam was a homemaker and a member of the former Salem Ridge Mennonite Church near Greencastle where she also was involved with the church sewing circle.
Surviving family in addition to her husband are three daughters, Karen Butts and husband Gregory of Waynesboro, Helen Leinbach of North Webster, Indiana, Charlotte Kulp and husband Don of New Freedom, PA, two sons, Arvin Eby and wife Linette of Greencastle, Carroll Eby and wife Valerie of Greencastle, one sister Esther Showalter of Chambersburg, sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday September 11 at 10:30 AM from the Salem Ridge Community Church 441 Pensinger Rd. Greencastle with Chaplain Robert Keener officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Menno Haven Benevolent Care Fund 2075 Scotland Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
