Mildred E. (Myers) Yoder, age 84 of 3001 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Belleville, PA. died at 1:10 A.M. Tuesday, February 22, 2011, in ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg.

Born February 2, 1927 in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Martha A. (Gayman) Myers.

She married Abe S. Yoder on September 26, 1982. He died on June 3, 2008.

Mildred was a missionary teacher for 21 years in Rhodesia, Africa and following that she taught for five years at Shalom Christian Academy in Chambersburg. Twice she and her husband, Abe took mission trips to Zimbabwe, Africa where they served as house parents at a guest house. The first trip was for 8 months and the second for three years. They also spent three months in Bloomfield, NM as counselors at the Over comer''s program with the Native Navajo Indian people. She has spent a great deal of time teaching English to Russian families in the Big Valley area. She was currently a member of the West Side Brethren In Christ Church Chambersburg and was formerly a member of the Big Valley Brethren in Christ Church, Belleville, PA. where she also was a Sunday school teacher. Mildred served as a volunteer for the Big Valley Thrift and Gift and Valley View Haven at the cafe. She is a former board member for Crossroads Pregnancy Center. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Surviving family are three sons, Allen J. Yoder of Smithsburg, MD and his friend Phyllis Adelsberger of Fairfield, PA; Titus A. Yoder & wife Charlotte of Smoketown, PA; and Roy S. Yoder & wife Geneva of Bradford, OH., 7 Grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren, two brothers Charles Myers and Glenn E. Myers, both of Greencastle, five sisters Anna Catherine Helfrick of Marion, PA; Naomi Strite of Sparta, WS, Dorcas Gearhart of Waynesboro, PA., Esther Kennedy of Chambersburg, PA. and Eunice Johnson of Bangor, ME. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Grace M. Yoder, who died November 6, 2006, a brother, Melvin Myers and two sisters, Grace Kennedy and Evelyn Hartman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday February 28 at 11:00 A.M. from the West Side Brethren in Christ Church 2665 Lincoln Way West Chambersburg with Rev. James Sollenberger officiating. The family will receive friends locally on Sunday evening from 6 - 9 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Monday.

Her family will also be receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1 at Henderson Funeral Home in Belleville. A graveside service will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery Belleville with Pastor John Keefer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Brethren in Christ World Missions, 431 Grantham Road, P.O. Box A, Grantham, PA 17027.
