Mildred M. "Milly" Hykes, age 82 of Hykes Rd. Greencastle, PA died at 12:22 A.M. Monday, January 21, 2013 in Quincy Retirement Home where she had been a resident for the past three months.

Born March 4, 1930 in Mildred, Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Harold J. and Alice M. (White) Borton. She was the wife of Walter A. Hykes whom she married on September 13, 1980.
Milly was a 1948 graduate of Dallas Twp. High School in Dallas, PA. Following graduation she worked as a telephone operator. She was a homemaker and had also worked for 3 years as a nurse''s aid at the Quincy Retirement Home.

She was a member of the Grace Bible Church of Greencastle where she taught children in the Junior Sunday School, helped with Good News Camp, Bible School and with Child Evangelism.
Milly enjoyed serving as a caregiver for the elderly. Her interests included baking, cooking and enjoying the farm life with her husband Walter.

Surviving family in addition to her husband are one son Michael P. and wife Mary Mahoney, Fairfield, PA, two daughters Susan Mahoney (husband Michael) Donnelly, Cascade, MD, Karen L. Mahoney (husband Robert) Carbaugh, Chambersburg, PA, one sister, Ann Halpin, McKeesport, PA, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Alexander McCandless Mahoney in 1974, one son Alexander Mahoney in 1979, one grandson David Carbaugh in 2003 and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 24 at 10:00 A.M. from the Grace Bible Church 2327 Hoffman Rd. Greencastle with Pastor Herm Fisler officiating. Burial will be in the Beautiful View Cemetery in Middleburg/State Line, Maryland. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Lutheran Home Care and Hospice 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17202. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmmermanfh.com
