Mildred L. (Phenicie) Hoffman, age 94, of Greencastle, PA died Wednesday morning December 13, 2017 in the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born January 23, 1923 in Welsh Run, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roy Jacob and Mary Ellen (Mummert) Phenicie. She married her husband Charles D. “Red” Hoffman on February 15, 1947. He died on September 14, 2007.
Mildred worked as a sales clerk at Stickell’s General Store in Upton, PA. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle, life member of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373 Ladies Auxiliary, former member of the Greencastle-Antrim L:ioness Club and a member of the Eastern Star Fulton Chapter # 519 of McConnellsburg, PA.
Mildred was a graduate of the former Lemasters High School. She enjoyed playing bingo, golfing, baking pies and reading.
Surviving family are two daughters, Audrey M. Miller and husband Andy of Mercersburg, PA, Denise A. Cotton and husband Larry of Greencastle, PA, one son, Ronald L. Hoffman and wife Robin of Chambersburg, PA, four grandchildren, David Andrew Miller, Jason Cotton and wife Stephanie, Nicole Henson and husband Frank, Joshua Cotton, grandson-in-law Michael Neumann and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Susan Diane Miller Neumann, one sister, Margaret A. “Peg” Snider and one brother Glen E. Phenicie.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday December 21 at 10:30 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Martin Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery Mercersburg, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening December 20 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. and where Eastern Star Fulton Chapter #519 will conduct a service at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Attn: Office of Development 2900 N.
