Merlin R. Cornett, age 84, formerly of Greencastle, PA passed away at 12:16 PM Friday, July 29, 2016 in the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg.
Born November 10, 1931 in Dione, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Robert and Dolly (Johnson) Cornett. He married Patricia Lee (Gozdick) Cornett on December 7, 1963. She died on December 21, 2011.
Merlin was employed at the former Arnold Graphics Co. of Hagerstown. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 and the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373, both of Greencastle.
Merlin enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving family are three sons, Richard A. Cornett and wife Karen of Scotland, PA, Walt Cornett and wife Lori of Greencastle, Jason S. Cornett and wife Dawn of Harrisonville, PA, one daughter Maureen Cornett of Shelby, N , two sisters, Betty Sue Smith of Jackson Center, OH, Molly Leydig of Strunk, KY, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Merlin was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 2 at 12 Noon from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor David Rawley officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle.
