Melchor D. "Meck" Miller, age 90 of Zarger Rd. Greencastle, Pa. died at 3:03 P.M. Wednesday August 13, 2008 in the emergency room of the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born August 11, 1918 in Greencastle, Pa. he was the son of the late Melchor Snively Jr. and Mary R. (Mayhugh) Miller.

Mr. Miller owned and operated M.D. Miller Jewelry Store in Greencastle from 1954 - 1967. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre having received the Purple Heart for wounds received in the European Theatre and he also received the bronze battle star, combat infantryman''s badge and good conduct medal.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church near Chambersburg and was a member of the New Berean Sunday School Class. He also was a charter member of the Kauffman Ruritan Club, member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 and member of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373, both of Greencastle.

He received his master jewelers certification from the Bowman Technical School in Lancaster, Pa. He enjoyed farming, carving canes and wood, making and building clocks, traveling and spending the winter months in Florida.

He and his wife, Edith M. (Berger) Miller were married May 10, 1940 in Westminster, Md.

Surviving family in addition to his wife of 68 years are:
Seven daughters, Connie F. Keller, Deborah K. Layton, Betty Ann Fike, Bonnie L. Paylor, all of Greencastle, Pa., D. Jean Blubaugh, Pamela S. Wingert and Lori D. Ensminger, all of Chambersburg, Pa.

Eight Sons, Robert E. Miller, Larry L. Miller, Richard D. Miller, D. Kim Miller, Douglas R. Miller and Mark E. Miller, all of Greencastle, Pa., Ronald M. Miller, Hurt, Va. and Jeff A. Miller, Erie, Pa.

Brother - Paul D. Miller, Chambersburg, Pa.
Sister - Betty M. Danzberger, Chambersburg, Pa.

Thirty-Three Grandchildren, Ten Step-grandchildren
Forty great-grandchildren, Eleven step-great-grandchildren
Two foster step-great-grandchildren
Two great-great grandchildren, two step great-great grandchildren

Numerous Nieces And Nephews

He was preceded in death by: one son, Brian Lynn Miller on April 10, 1963, three brothers Richard K. Miller, George L. Miller and Donald F. Miller, one granddaughter and one step-grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 17 at 2:00 P.M. from the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church 24 East Kauffman Rd. Chambersburg, Pa. with Rev. Ky Searcy and Rev. Wilbur Benner officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard will be in the Green Hill Cemetery Waynesboro, Pa. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. and one hour before the service on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Building Fund of Antrim Brethren In Christ Church 24 East Kauffman Rd. Chambersburg, Pa. 17202. The Greencastle V.F.W. Post #6319 will hold a memorial service at the church on Saturday at 7:30 P.M. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
