Max S. Myers
Max S. Myers, age 81 of Meadowview Circle Greencastle died at 11:42 P.M. Saturday August 18, 2012 in the Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown from complications from a fall at his home earlier on Saturday morning.
Born March 15, 1931 in Antrim Township, Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late H. Nelson and Mabel (Slothour) Myers.
He and his wife, Marie (Talhelm) Myers were married September 24, 1955.
Max was a dairy farmer his entire working life. He was a partner in Myr-Lea Farms located on Browns Mill Road Greencastle. He was a past member of the County, State and National Holstein Associations. Max was a charter and active member of the Kauffman Ruritan Club where he served as President and Treasurer of the Club. He also was the recipient of the Ruritan Tom Downing Award.
He also was a past member of the Cumberland Valley Antique Engine and Machinery Association. Max was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle where he had served on church council and was an officer in the Sunday School. He was a 1949 graduate of Greencastle High School.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are one son Gary (wife Michelle) Myers, Greencastle, one daughter Donna (husband Steve) Trusnovec, Long Island N.Y., four grandchildren Nicholas, Jenna, Ethan, Erin, two step-grandchildren Renee, Wayne, one step-great granddaughter Rachel and one sister Fay Oliver of Chambersburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother Richard Myers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 23 at 11:00 A.M. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 North Washington St. Greencastle with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Memorial Fund of Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 North Washington St. Greencastle, PA 17225.
