Max Eugene Hade

July 22, 1944 — June 22, 2024

Waynesboro, PA

Max Eugene Hade, 79, of Five Forks, passed to his Heavenly Home from his farm home surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Born Saturday, July 22, 1944, he was the son of the late Leslie and Nellie Hade of Five Forks; where he lived nearly his entire life on the home place.

Max loved the simple life. During the Vietnam conflict, he served as a medic in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Lancaster, PA. During that time, in 1966, he met the love of his life, Darlene Brantner of Roxbury. They were married in March a year later. In May 1967 he moved back home to take over one of the family farms. Max was a skilled welder, and worked 9 years in welding, inspection, and test track at Grove manufacturing. Max enjoyed the great outdoors both farming and hunting. In more recent years, he developed a love of restoring Allis Chalmers tractors, and won a handful of awards at some local tractor pulls. Max and Darlene enjoyed RV camping. Over the course of his life, he touched many people with his Christian example. He served as Deacon at Montgomery BIC Church, and later as board member at Chambersburg God’s Missionary Church. In 1996 he travelled on a mission trip to help build churches in Zimbabwe.

Max is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Darlene J. Branter Hade; sons, Wayne E. and wife, Jennifer J. Hade and Delbert J. and wife, Joanna L. Hade, all from Five Forks. Max is also survived by brothers, Lloyd Hade of Shippensburg and Glenn Hade of Spring Grove; sisters, Twila Ocker of Chambersburg and Hazel Broadwater of Swanton; grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha, Daniel, Serena, and Grace; and great-grandchildren Braylen and Adelyn; plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home. All services will be private.
