Maude L. Beckwith, age 90 a resident of the Shook Home in Chambersburg, Pa. for the past year and a half and formerly of 820 Buchanan Trail East Greencastle, Pa. died unexpectedly at 3:45 A.M. Sunday December 16, 2007 in the home.
Born December 14, 1917 in Montgomery Twp. Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Emmert E. and Avis V. (Hoover) Stevens.
She retired from the Greencastle-Antrim School District having worked in the cafeteria and she also worked at the former GEM Garment Co. of Greencastle and Fairchild Aircraft of Hagerstown.
Mrs. Beckwith was a member of the Calvary Bible Church of Greencastle. She did volunteer work at the Quincy Retirement Home.
She and her husband, Paul G. Beckwith were married on October 12, 1946. He died in December 1966.
Surviving family are:
One sister, Retha Daley of Mercersburg, Pa.
Numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Avis Jan Beckwith, two sisters, Janette Saylor and Faye Bradley and a brother Wilson Stevens.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 20 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Glen A. Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Welsh Run Church Of The Brethren Cemetery Welsh Run, Pa. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Thursday.
