Mary Lou (Sipes) Statler, age 76 of North Allison St. Greencastle, PA died at 7:28 AM Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law Brenda and James Woodring of East Ave. State Line, PA. She had been in declining health for the past year. Born April 11, 1937 in McConnellsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Martha J. (Cutchall) Sipes. She and her husband Harry Thomas “Tom” Statler were married August 25, 1953 in Hagerstown. He died on January 30, 2013.
Mary Lou worked at the former Stanley Company of Chambersburg, she was the owner of the Hair Styling Emporium and Statler’s Country Store both of Zullinger, PA and she also helped clerk at the State Line-Tom Statler’s Auction House in State Line, PA. She loved attending sporting events for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoyed family vacations, going to plays, loved the holidays and most importantly spending time with her family that she loved dearly. Mary Lou attended school in Clay Hill and was a 1986 graduate of the former Headhunters Cosmetology School in Chambersburg.
Surviving family are two sons, Thomas Statler and wife Barbara and Michael Statler, all of Greencastle. two daughters, Brenda Statler Woodring and husband James of State Line, Ann Statler Amsley and husband Craig, of Greencastle, seven grandchildren, Candis DeShong, Saundra Tucker, Cristina Shifflett, Cayla Amsley, Creighton Amsley, Elayna Statler, Rachel Statler, five great-grandchildren, Alexa DeShong, Drew DeShong, Haley Barnhart, Jeb Barnhart, Dawson Shifflett and one sister Rhoda Niedentohl of Waynesboro, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 28 at 1:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. David Rawley officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 – 8 PM.
