Mary Jane (Bartles) Zeger

Mary Jane Zeger, 83, of Greencastle, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, June 10, 2023 at her home.  Born November 16, 1939 in Washington County, MD, she was a daughter of the late Pearre Glen Bartles and Mary Gertrude (Shank) Bartles Martin.  Mary Jane was a 1957 graduate of the Hagerstown High School.  A homemaker most of her life she at one time worked at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg and she drove a school bus for the Greencastle Antrim School District for 28 years.  She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greencastle where she was active with the WELCA group and the Gleaner Sunday School Class.  She was also a member of the Greencastle Loyal Daughters and the Greencastle Women’s Fellowship. Mary Jane enjoyed collecting snowmen. Her husband, Harold B. Zeger, whom she married June 6, 1968, preceded her in death on November 9, 2017.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Zeger of Greencastle and Richard Zeger and wife Angela of Jacksonville, NC, two granddaughters, Rachel Seville and husband Dennis and Larra Zeger; great-granddaughter, McKenzey Seville; step-great-granddaughter Janelle Seville; brother, Wayne Bartles and wife Nancy of Hagerstown; sister Anna Kiser and husband Kenneth of Greencastle; several nieces and nephews; and her grand-dog dalmation, Raleigh.  Her first husband, Daniel Keckler, preceded her in death in October of 1966.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle with Rev. Martin Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 PM Thursday and one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.
