Mary Jane (Porter) Leck

January 20, 1938 — December 8, 2023

Greencastle, PA

Mary Jane (Porter) Leck, 85, of Greencastle, Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma passed away peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Mercy House in Chambersburg, PA. Mary Jane was born on January 20, 1938 to the late Harry and Elizabeth (Phillips) Porter in Dover, NJ.  She married John E. Leck on December 19, 1959. The couple settled in Vernon, New Jersey, where they had two sons and spent most of their lives until 2005, when they moved to Needmore, PA. They later moved to Greencastle, PA to be closer to the most important thing in Mary Jane’s life, her family.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Oderico, and her beloved son, James (Jimmy) Leck. We all take great comfort in knowing that they have been reunited at last.  Mary Jane is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, John E. Leck of Greencastle; brother, Robert Porter of Arizona; son, John P. Leck (Jennifer) of New Market, MD; grandsons, Nolan (Samantha) Leck and Cullen Leck; as well as her beloved great grandson, Milo.

Mary Jane, or simply "Grandma," will be remembered for her unconditional love for all those around her. No matter through thick or thin, hardship or easy living, one thing was for certain, her love was unconditional.  Per her final wishes, arrangements are private and no funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations to be made to the Mercy House of Chambersburg, 730 Norland Avenue Chambersburg, PA 17201.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home.
