Mary Ellen (Socks) Trobaugh
Mary Ellen (Socks) Trobaugh, age 92, a resident of ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg for the past several months and formerly of Stull Road Greencastle died at 8:44 PM Monday, June 13, 2016 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born January 11, 1924 in Pine River, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Jacob F. and Mary F. (Preston) Socks. She lived her early life in Five Forks, PA. She and her husband of 71 years, Donald R. Trobaugh, were married on November 7, 1942 in Hagerstown. He died July 18, 2014. They had lived at 118 Tritle Ave. in Waynesboro for over 50 years before moving with their daughter Donna in 2005.
Mary Ellen was a member of the Five Forks Brethren In Christ Church of Waynesboro where she was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class and Sewing Circle. She volunteered at Camp Joy El and with the Bible Release Time. She enjoyed bowling in the Seniors League at Sunshine Lanes, spending time with her family and friends and loved her flowers and gardening.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna Baer and her husband Jackie of Greencastle, Ann Murphy of Wakefield, KS, Beth Mentzer and husband Donavan of Myrtle Beach, SC, one son, Bruce Lee Trobaugh and wife Deb of St. Thomas, PA, six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family and in addition to her parents and husband was preceded in death by a son William J. Trobaugh and his wife Suzi, four sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 16 at 11:00 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Bill Shank officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Five Forks Brethren In Christ Church 9244 Five Forks Rd, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
