Mary Elizabeth Young, age 79 of 2593 Buchanan Trail West Greencastle, PA died at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, June 21, 2012 in her home.
Born January 8, 1933 in Somerset, PA, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Evelyn May (Arnold) Burke Mays and the step-daughter of the late Leroy Ralph Mays.
Mary Elizabeth was employed by the Washington County Maryland Public School System as an instructional aid. She enjoyed reading, playing board games, listening to music and being with her family.
She and her husband, Ernest M. Young Sr. were married June 18, 1950.
Surviving family in addition to her husband of 62 years are one son Ernest M. Young Jr. and wife Mary, Fairplay, MD, two daughters, Cindy Young, Greencastle, Sharon Quinn and husband Bo, Boonsboro, MD, one step grandson, Darryl Moore, two step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 26 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Gayle Ruble Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia United Brethren Church Cemetery near Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to Lutheran Home Care 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17201. Online condolences maybe expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com
