Mary P. Statler
Mary (Pensinger) Picking Statler, age 102, a resident of Menno Haven in Chambersburg, PA died Saturday afternoon May 9, 2015 at Menno Haven.
Born July 30, 1912 in Antrim Township, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lottie (Wishard) Pensinger.
On April 17, 1937 she married Lester Statler Picking. They were married until Lester’s passing in 1971. On June 9, 1982 she married Lyman L. Statler and they were married until his passing in 1999.
Mary attended schools in Greencastle and held various employments in her lifetime including Montgomery Ward, Butcher Shoppe, Lehman’s Egg Service, Wheelock Hatchery and Corning Glass Works.
She had attended the Calvary Bible Church of Greencastle and most recently she was a member of the Menno Haven Christian Fellowship.
Surviving family are one daughter Dolores Kissel of Harrisburg, one son Donald Picking and wife Mary of Marion, one brother Carroll Pensinger of Waynesboro, PA, ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren, one step-daughter and a number of step grandchildren and step- great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter Janice Shanholtz, four brothers, two sisters and a step-daughter.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 13 at 1:00 P.M. from the Menno Haven Chapel in Chambersburg with Chaplain Vernon Isner officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Browns Mill Cemetery Kauffman. There will be no public viewing. The family requests the omission of flowers and memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Menno Haven Benevolent Care Fund 2011 Scotland Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
