Mary E. Daugherty, age 99, a resident of Quincy Village and formerly of Buchanan Trail East, Greencastle, PA died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 2:25 PM in the nursing home.

Born October 25, 1907 in Paramount, MD she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Jennie May (Trovinger) Hykes.

She and her husband M. Earl Daugherty were married February 18, 1930 in State Line, PA. He died October 10, 1986.

Mrs. Daugherty was a long time member of the former Trinity United Brethren Church in State Line, PA where she was a member of the Sunshine Workers Bible Class.

She was employed as a seamstress for over 20 years at the former Stanley Company of Chambersburg, PA. She was a member of the former Greencastle Chapter of the AARP and enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Surviving family are:

One Son, Melvin E. Daugherty of Boonsboro, MD.

Two Daughters, Dorothy Talhelm of Chambersburg, PA and Joyce Welling of Boonsboro, MD.

One Brother, Edgar Hykes of Waynesboro, PA.

One Sister, Elva Fahnestock of Chambersburg, PA.

Eight Grandchildren, Ten Great Grandchildren, and Thirteen Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Earl and Roy Hykes and one sister, Lelia Daugherty.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 10:30 AM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle with Rev. J. Herman Fisler and Pastor Gregory Kell officiating. Burial will be in the Beautiful View Cemetery, Washington County, MD. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM and one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences can be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com
