Martha A. Bricker
Martha A. (Toms) Bricker, age 83 formerly of East Leitersburg St. Greencastle, PA died at 2:30 A.M. Monday, October 8, 2012 in the Quincy Retirement Home, Quincy, PA where she had been a resident for the past five years.
Born February 22, 1929 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late J. Franklin and Ida A. (Sheffler) Toms. She married Marshall E. "Ed" Bricker on July 6, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD. He died on September 18, 2007.
In her earlier years, Martha worked at Landis Machine Co., Beck Mfg. and the former Myers and Fitz of Greencastle. Last, she worked at the former First National Bank of Greencastle in loan processing. Martha was a 1946 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
Martha was a member of the Greencastle Church Of The Brethren where she had sung on the church choir for 30 years. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 and the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373, both of Greencastle. She was a member of the Greencastle-Antrim Homemakers, Greencastle-Antrim Lioness Club, Greencastle Loyal Daughters and former member of the Greencastle-Antrim Women''s Fellowship. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of a local card club for fifty years.
Surviving family are one son Thomas E. (husband of Donna) Bricker, Ellicott City, MD, two grandchildren Jeremy Cavey and Sara Cavey, both of Ellicott City, MD and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by a son Timothy E. Bricker in 1968, brothers Kenneth L. Monn, Robert L. Toms, Jay Milton Toms, John C. Toms, Paul F. Toms and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 11 at 11:00 A.M from the Harold M. Zimmereman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Leon R. Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M.
