Martha E. Barnes

Martha E. (Meyers) Barnes, age 85 of 151 Williamson Ave., Greencastle, PA died at 3:50 A.M. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in her home.

Born, April 27, 1926 in St. Thomas Twp., PA, she was the daughter of the late Amos A. and Minnie F. (Wenger) Meyers.

She and her husband, Carl H. Barnes were married on October 29, 1942 in Hagerstown, MD.

Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Greencastle, where she was the former president of the Women''s Guild. She owned and operated the former Barnes Gift ''n'' Craft Shoppe in Williamson.

Surviving family in addition to her husband are, son, Ronald L. (husband of Donna S.) Barnes; daughter, Joann B. (wife of the late Elwood M.) Snider both of Greencastle; sister, Laura Heckman of Mercersburg; two grandsons, R. Curtis Barnes and Craig A. Barnes; two great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Orville Meyers, Roy Meyers, Martin Meyers, Harry Meyers and Albert Meyers and two sisters, Stella Brubaker and Verda Hawbaker.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from the Grace United Church of Christ, 128 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle with Pastor James E. Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery, St. Thomas, PA. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M on Friday at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle and one half hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
