Marjorie H. "Margie" (Riner) Johns

Marjorie H. “Margie” Johns, age 71, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021, at the Chambersburg Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 1, 1949, in Martinsburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Arthur and Nellie Elizabeth Elwood Riner.

Mrs. Johns was a 1967 graduate of Hedgesville High School and a 1968 graduate of the King’s Daughters Nursing School. She worked in nursing for a number of years. Selfless in nature, she and her husband fostered 36 children. She was the founder of Guardian In Home Services. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, entertaining, and especially time with family.

Surviving is her husband of 51 years, Harold Johns, whom she married in 1969; five children, Dwain “Toby” Johns (Christine) of Clarksville, TN, Jason Johns (Karen) of Mercersburg, PA, Brian Johns (Nicole) of Greencastle, PA, Jennifer Hudson (Joe) of Greencastle, PA, and CoreyRyan Johns of Greencastle, PA; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Phyllis Reed and Clifford, Paul, David, and Michael Riner.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 11 AM in The Greencastle Church of God, 4480 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, PA 17225, where Pastor Floyd Myers will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 14, 2021, from 5 – 8 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc. 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225 and one hour prior to the service at the above church. Interment will follow the service in Spring Grove Cemetery, Lemasters, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Make-A-Wish America, Gift Processing 1702 East Highland Ave., Suite 400 Phoenix, AZ 85016. .
