Marian E. Chambers

Marian Elizabeth (Hardman) Chambers, age 88 a resident of the nursing center of Homewood at Williamsport, MD and formerly of Greencastle, PA died at 3:55 P.M. Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Homewood.

Born August 21, 1926 in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Mabel (Reynolds) Hardman. She married the former Pastor Richard C. Chambers of Homewood on April 29, 1948.
She was a graduate of the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Cumberland, MD and a graduate of the Cadet Nursing Corps at the end of World War II.
Marian was a registered nurse having worked at several hospitals in her career and was last employed at La Plata Memorial Hospital in Waldorf, MD.
Marian attended the Grace Bible Church of Greencastle. She helped her husband in his church ministry where she directed the youth choir and taught Sunday School.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who not only loved her family but her Lord and Savior.


Surviving family in addition to her husband are two sons, Mark Chambers of Bunker Hill, WV, Paul Chambers of Marion, VA, three daughters, Connie Anderson of Canal Fulton, OH, Cynthia House and Cathy Staggs both of  Greencastle, PA, one sister Karen Durrett of Cape Coral, FL, fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, March 6 at 10:00 A.M at the Grace Bible Church 2327 Hoffman Rd. Greencastle, PA with Pastor J. Herman Fisler officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cumberland, MD at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Grace Bible Church 2327 Hoffman Rd. Greencastle, PA 17225 or to the Homewood at Williamsport Benevolent Fund 16505 Virginia Ave. Williamsport, MD 21795. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.zimmermanfh.com.
