Margaret M. (Peg) Kegerreis, age 88, of Greencastle, PA, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2023, in her home. Born on November 7, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Charles D. and Catherine Sollenberger Myers.
She lived all of her life in the Greencastle-Antrim area graduating from Greencastle High School in 1952. She and her late husband, James R. Kegerreis were married for 66 years. ‘While in high school she was part of the Kaley Circus and the Greencastle Gym Team. After high school, she went to work at Household Finance, in Hagerstown. After her marriage, she was the bookkeeper for her husband’s contracting company and later supported their business in many ways, including helping with everything from secretarial duties to painting and lawn work. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, often making special meals for birthdays and holidays. She enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, mushroom hunting, gardening, and seeing the wildlife near their home. When she finally sat down to rest, you could find her reading. She and her husband found time to travel (to almost every state) and spent many days camping. In her later years she patiently and tirelessly cared for her husband through his long illness.
She is survived by her two children, Deborah Kay Witmer (husband, Donald) and James R. Kegerreis Jr., (wife, Michelle); four grandchildren, Robert Witmer, Alisha Simon, Larissa Witmer and Daniel Kegerreis; and 5 great-grandchildren.
