Margaret G. (Gsell) Stine, age 91 a resident of Providence Place of Chambersburg for the past several months and formerly of Stull Road Greencastle, PA died at 3:02 PM Sunday, May 22, 2016 in the York Hospital following complications of a stroke that she had suffered on Wednesday May 18.
Born July 15, 1924 in Five Forks, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Lola (Fraver) Gsell. She and her husband of 69 years, Ray C. Stine, were married January 25, 1947. He died on May 12, 2016.
Margaret in her earlier years worked at the former Stanley Co. of Chambersburg and then worked as a clerical aide at the former Shady Grove Elementary School.
She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waynesboro and a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. She enjoyed playing the piano, cooking and baking, reading and sewing.
Margaret grew up on the family farm at Five Forks and was a graduate of the former Washington Township High School.
Surviving family are two sons, Thomas R. Stine and wife Nancy of Greencastle, Terry L. Stine and wife Cheree of Greencastle, three grandchildren, Amy, Rebekah, Jeremy, one great-granddaughter Allie, two step-granddaughters Brandy & Paige Beard, three sisters, Janet Benedict of Quincy, Doris Koons of Waynesboro and Sarah Jane Eigenbrode of Fayetteville, PA
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter Jennifer Stine.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 26 at 2:00 PM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastors Drahus Oslik and Dennis Beaver officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Evangelical Lutheran Church 43 S. Church St. Waynesboro, PA 17268.
