Marcelle (Stouffer) Martin

Marcelle (Stouffer) K. Martin, age 84, of Greencastle, PA went to be with her heavenly father on Friday morning December 2, 2022, in her daughter’s (Donna Holtrey) home with her family by her side. Born in 1938 in Greencastle, PA. She was the daughter of late Fred and Edna (Meyers) Stouffer.

Marcelle was a beautiful woman inside and out, she had a heart of gold, always giving and full of life. Her gift in life was being a good listener, no matter what the situation was, she never judged. She never lived a dull moment.  She had many adventures throughout her life, with her late husband (Amos) of 64 years and all the children and their families.  Marcelle was always smiling and laughing, family and friends would go out of their way to hear her laughter, because it was the best medicine and so contagious.

She enjoyed horses, bird watching, traveling and puzzles.  As a snowbird, she traveled annually to Windjammer community in Naples, Florida and enjoyed the quality time spent with family and friends. She also liked to watch the sunrise and sunset and going to the beach.

Marcelle was dedicated to hard work at their family-owned farm. She was an active member in the Red Hat Society and Brandt’s Church of the Brethren in St. Thomas, PA. In her earlier years she attended James Buchanan School and then worked for Stanley Company.

Surviving are four children, Donna Holtrey of Mercersburg; Darrell and Dottie Dice Martin of Greencastle, PA; Dennis and Cindy Walck Martin of Greencastle, PA;  and Doreen Martin of Greencastle, PA, 10 grandchildren, Connie Frey Miller husband Doug; Kevin Frey wife Tammy; Jessica Payne Horst husband Mike; Karl Frey wife Samantha; Ryan Martin wife Ashley; Joshua Martin wife Shirley;

Carrie Frey Meckley husband Shaun; Raland Martin wife Kerri; Shane Martin; and Shaylin Deardorff, 17 great grandchildren, and a brother, Eugene Stouffer and wife Cheryl.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Martin in 2019, and a son-in-law, Larry Holtrey.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 10 AM at Brandt’s Church of the Brethren, 8003 Brandts Church Rd., St. Thomas, PA 17252, where Pastors Roger Myers and Ronnie Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 11, 2022, from 3 – 5 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the above church and address.
