Mable V. (Brindle) Shindle, age 96 of Greencastle, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, morning December 12, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born February 13, 1924 in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Irene (Miller) Brindle. She married her husband William E. “Bill” Shindle on December 24, 1943. He died on December 8, 2017.
Mable was a homemaker and she was a member of the Macedonia United Brethren Church near Greencastle where she had served as a Sunday School teacher, church board secretary for many years and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Association. Her hobbies and interests included sewing, crocheting and needlework.
Surviving family are two daughters; Beverley J. Coble and husband William T. of Greencastle, Sharon N. Gladfelter of Greencastle, one son, William E. Shindle Jr. and wife Nancy M. of Greencastle; four grandchildren, Lori Wood and husband Mike, Amy Frisby and husband Gary, Sue Landers and husband Jerry, Wendy Hopkins; nine great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren; one brother Robert Brindle of Greencastle.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Marvin Brindle and a sister Joretta McKibben.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Macedonia United Brethren Church 11887 Worleytown Rd. Greencastle with Rev. Gayle Ruble Sr. and Rev. Brian Black officiating. The family asks that a mask be worn for those attending. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Macedonia United Brethren Church 11887 Worleytown Rd. Greencastle, PA 17225. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com.
