Mabel V. (Miller) Statler, age 86 formerly of 49 West Baltimore St. Greencastle, Pa. and a resident for the past four months of Shank''s Personal Care Home Greencastle died at 3:55 P.M. Wednesday August 18, 2010 in the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born November 3, 1923 in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Fred F. and Edith (Sword) Miller.
She and her husband, Ray G. Statler were married June 3, 1974. He died on September 8, 1989.
Mabel was employed for 44 1/2 years at the former Stanley Co. of Chambersburg. She was a member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 Ladies Auxiliary and a life member of the Rescue Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary, both of Greencastle.
Surviving family are two sisters, Edna Miller, Greencastle, Joann Wetzel, Hagerstown, nieces and nephews, several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: brothers Jack Miller, who was killed in the Korean War, David Miller, Harold Miller, Donald Miller, John Miller, sisters Helen Myers, Louise Berkheimer, Nancy Trainer and step-sons, Ronald Statler, Gary Statler and Dana Statler.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 23 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle with Rev. David G. Rawley officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6 - 8 P.M.
