Mabel Irene Horst

Mabel Irene Horst, age 90 a resident of the Mennonite Home 13436 Maugansville Rd. Hagerstown, Md. died at 1:00 A.M. Sunday March 29, 2009 in the home.

Born November 7, 1918 in Reid, Md., she was the daughter of the late Abram G. and Susie (Baer) Horst.

She was a school teacher for almost forty years having taught the last twenty years at Paradise Mennonite School of Hagerstown. She was a member of the Millers Mennonite Church near Leitersburg, Md.

Mabel is the last of her immediate family and is survived by nineteen nephews and nieces and numerous great-nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Adin Horst, Irvin Horst, Lesher Horst, two sisters, Edna Horst, Elva Horst and two nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning April 1 at 10:00 A.M. from the Millers Mennonite Church near Leitersburg with the Millers Mennonite Church Ministry officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. and one hour before the service on Wednesday. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
