Mary Evelyn Wagner, age 82 a resident of the Quincy Retirement Home since September 2007 and formerly of Greencastle and Hagerstown died at 10:20 A.M. Saturday December 22, 2007 in the nursing home.
Born August 26, 1925 in Middlesex Twp. Cumberland County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Paul A. and M. Helen (Hays) Young.
She was employed by the State Of Maryland as a drug and alcohol counselor in Hagerstown. Mrs. Wagner was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Hagerstown where she sang on the church choir. She also had attended the Maugansville Bible Brethren Church. She was a member of the local Al-Anon group. She was a 1944 graduate of Greencastle High School.
Her husband, John H. Wagner Sr. died in 1978.
Surviving family are:
Two sons, John Wagner Jr. and Samuel Lee Wagner, both of Hagerstown, Md.
Three sisters, Peggy Baker and Joan Weller, both of Greencastle, Pa. and Jane Marshall of Haymarket, Va.
Three brothers, Robert A. Young and Charles Earl Young, both of Greencastle and James A. Young of Perdix, Pa.
Nine Grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Helen Lorraine Youngblood and a brother Joe M. Young.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 27 at 1:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor John R. Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7 - 9 P.M. at the funeral home.
