Lynn E. "Skip" Manahan

Lynn E. "Skip" Manahan, age 67, of Waynesboro, Pa., died unexpectedly at 12:51 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born Feb. 3, 1947, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Edwin S. and Sylvia (Haugh) Manahan. He married Bunny L. (Benchoff) Manahan on April 4, 1970.
Skip worked and later managed the former Wayne Laboratories, then worked as an inspector for the Maryland State Highway Department and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. He was a 1965 graduate of the Waynesboro High School, a graduate of the Hagerstown Community College, received his Bachelor's of Science Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1970 and his Master's Degree from Shippensburg University in 1992.
Skip was a member of the Waynesboro Fish and Game Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, learning and studying the Civil War.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are one daughter Shanan L. Shaffer and husband Michael L. of Greencastle, three grandchildren, Courtney King, Christopher King, Brandon Shaffer and two great-grandchildren Jaylin and Tayden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter Madison.
Funeral services will held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. from the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery Waynesboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Occupational Services Inc., 17 Redwood St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201, or to the American Diabetes Association , 301 Chestnut St., Suite 101, Harrisburg, Pa. 17101.
