Lucille E. “Took” Summers, age 78 of Bino Rd. Greencastle, PA died at 11:55 PM Saturday, June 18, 2016 in her home following a brief illness.
Born July 30, 1937 in Waynesboro, PA she was the daughter of the late Rozel and Florence (Finafrock) Mummert. She and her husband, Zachary L. “Zach” Summers were married in 1960 in Hagerstown. He died on September 26, 2004.
Lucille had worked at the former Old Orchard Market in Hagerstown, Jane’s Market in Mercersburg and at Sunnyway Foods in Greencastle. Following her retirement, she was a caregiver for elderly people.
She attended the Mercersburg Mennonite Church. Lucille really enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends and working in her yard.
Surviving family are two daughters Linda L. (Mrs. Michael) Martin of Greencastle, Barbara A. Summers of Shippensburg, PA, one son, Wayne P. (husband of Violet M.) Summers of Mercersburg, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, Alvin Mummert and Joseph Mummert both of Greencastle, four sisters, Mary Shew and Rhoda Cottrell both of Greencastle, Mildred Cramer and Susan Brough both of Mercersburg and a special friend James “Buddy” Minnich of Hagerstown.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 23 at 10:30 AM at the Mercersburg Mennonite Church 10060 Buchanan Trail West Mercersburg, PA with Pastor David Possinger officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia United Brethren Church Cemetery near Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 -8:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17202 or to the Mercersburg Mennonite Church 10060 Buchanan Trail West Mercersburg, PA 17236.
