Lucille D. (Davis) Garling, age 90 of Edward Dr. Greencastle, PA died Thursday, November 19, 2015 in her home.
Born July 30, 1925 in Albemarle County, VA, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Lilian (Watson) Davis. She married her husband Paul E. Garling on October 22, 1949 in Hagerstown. He died on August 15, 2011.
Lucille was a seamstress having worked for Ingram’s Mens Shop and the former Murphy’s Dry Cleaning both of Hagerstown and she had also worked at the former Montgomery Ward Store of Hagerstown. She was a helpmate to her husband Paul in his work.
She enjoyed sewing and making clothes, gardening and flowers and traveling with her husband in their younger years. She enjoyed animals and her pets over the years.
Surviving family are one sister Charlotte Tomlin of Charlottesville, VA, four nieces and was blessed with numerous kind and thoughtful neighbors. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Anna Mary Garling and a son Paul E. Garling II.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 23 at 2:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Gayle Ruble Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church Cemetery near Mercersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Antietam Humane Society 8513 Lyons Rd. Waynesboro, PA 17268 or to the charity of one’s choice.
