Louise I. (Hartman) Linebaugh

Louise I. Linebaugh age 88, of Waynesboro, PA and previously Greencastle PA passed away at her daughter, Cindy Ryder’s home in Abingdon, VA, died August 23, 2022. She spent her last 3 weeks surrounded by love, respect, dignity, and 1on1 attention that only a devoted daughter can provide. Born April 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Kellar Price Hartman and Esther Viola Shipp Hartman.

She most recently spent the past year at Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation facility in Chambersburg, PA due to rapidly declining health from a fall, subsequent hip fracture, surgery, and Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia.

She was a 1952 graduate of the former Quincy High School. She married her first husband, Harold E. Ryder on January 2, 1954, they had six children together. They were married for 42 years. She was a homemaker, farmer’s wife, and in later years, worked in environmental services until her retirement. She also lived in Ware, MA for a few years, and then moved to Alaska for about 8 years. She and family moved back to Hagerstown, MD area, then back to Alaska again, and finally Rochester, PA. Louise moved back to the Chambersburg area after her husband, Harold passed in April 1996.

Surviving is her second husband, Ira R. Linebaugh whom she married June 8, 2002; children, Carolyn Caulfield of Waynesboro, PA,  Michael Ryder and wife Shari of St. Thomas PA, Mark and wife Amanda (Carver) of Juneau, Alaska, Marlin and wife Rebecca ( Harrell) of St. Thomas, PA, and Cindy Ryder and partner Jonathan Reynolds of Abingdon, VA;  11 grandchildren, Jeremy Ryder and wife, Melinda of Mercersburg, PA, Phillip Caulfield and wife, Kristy of Wanatchee, WA, Danielle Ryder Ericksen and husband, Zach of Anchorage, AK, Derek Ryder and wife, Leann of Lititz, PA, Karen Sipe of Greencastle, PA, Bryan Ryder and wife, Amy of Juneau, Alaska, Brittany Garner Phillips and husband, Jeremy of Warrenton, VA, Rick Ryder of Greencastle, PA, Brad Ryder and wife, Heather of Greencastle, PA, Amber Allen , and Anje Garner of Clear Spring, MD;  21 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews on both the Hartman and Ryder sides;  and Ira’s children;  Kathy Shockey, Linda Eyler, Kay Bonner,  and Gary Linebaugh and their families.

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina “Crissy” Ryder in 2000, grandson, Andrew Garner in 1993; brothers, Raymond Hartman in 1993, Robert Hartman in 1991, and Paul E. Hartman in 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 2 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Dale Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home on Monday.  Interment will follow the service at Antietam Cemetery in Waynesboro, PA.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Livestream of Louise's service can be viewed at https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/authorise.php?k=1661640476204790
