Lorraine K. Miller

December 26, 1969 — January 8, 2021

Lorraine K. Miller, age 51 of Greencastle, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born December 26, 1969 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of Joseph Donald and the late Lois (Caufman) Miller.  Lorraine wasn’t a stranger to adversity as she overcame many health obstacles in her life, always remarking that God had a reason for her to be here.  She had a generous spirit and loved giving to others in creative and meaningful ways.  Her father remembers, “she had the biggest heart”.  She was a friend to all and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Lorraine was a 1987 graduate of Heritage Academy in Hagerstown, MD.  After high school, she continued her education at Messiah College in Grantham, PA where she earned a M.S. in Business Administration and a minor in Interior Design in 1992.  Her interests and hobbies included traveling, shopping, creating unique gifts with money creations and crafts, calligraphy and UV (black light) chalk art, and trying new recipes.

Lorraine worked as the primary care-giver and farm bookkeeper for her father.  She worked as a business manager for the Eastern Europe Aid Association and in the business offices of Corning and WCRH radio.  She also created her own business of gift crafts called Notable Gifts for which she won several awards.  She was a member of Maugansville Bible Brethren Church and served as a nursery worker, bridal & baby shower planning committee member, painted murals in the children’s wing and a member of the leadership team for the church’s Awana program for 16 years.

Surviving family include her father Joseph Donald Miller of Greencastle, siblings Nelson Miller of Greencastle, Carolyn (Miller) Bates and husband Steven of Winchester, IN, Ivan Miller and wife Mandy (Schnebly) of Greencastle; nephews, Mark Miller and Caleb Miller of Clear Spring, MD, nephew Kyle Bates and niece Kelbee Bates of Winchester, IN and great-niece Belamee Fellers of Winchester, IN; best friend/chosen sister Catherine Velleco, husband John Velleco, children Sarah Velleco, Anna Velleco, Christina Velleco, John Velleco Jr. and her name-sake Sophia Lorraine Velleco of Fairfax, VA.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her infant brother Carl Lee Miller.

Due to the pandemic, the family has chosen to hold a private family service at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle on Thursday, January 14th with Pastor Chad Carter officiating.
