Lloyd T. "Toby" McDonald Jr., age 78 of 37 West Madison St. Greencastle, Pa. died at 12:05 P.M. Tuesday, April 7, 2009 in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital. He had been in declining health the past several years.

Born February 16, 1931 in Greencastle, Pa., he was the son of the late Lloyd Tobias "Tuck" and Frances Helen (Roll) McDonald.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service having worked in the Greencastle Post Office for 33 years. Following his retirement, he was employed as a courier for the First National Bank of Greencastle.

Mr. McDonald was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle where he served as an usher and on church council. He was a 1948 graduate of Greencastle High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, having served on the destroyer U.S.S. Strong.

He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, enjoyed antiquing, attending auctions and following the local high school football and baseball teams.

He and his wife, Lewanna V. "Lu" (Stalnaker) McDonald were married July 31, 1954 in Williamsport, Md.

Surviving family in addition to his wife are one daughter, Kelly A. (Wife of Lou) Paris, Scranton, Pa., one son Matthew J. McDonald, Greencastle, Pa., one grandson, Brandon M. Budd, Scranton, Pa., two sisters Anna Shockey, Luther Ridge of Chambersburg, Pa. and Katherine Hill, Greencastle, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Wally McDonald and a sister Clarabelle "Susie" Robertson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 11 at 11:00 A.M. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 N. Washington St. Greencastle with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. There will be no viewing but the family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Saturday. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Lutheran Home Care Services 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, Pa. 17202 or to the Memorial Fund of Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 N.
