Linda M. Shank
Linda M. (Negley) Shank, age 64 of Hagerstown, MD went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening September 3, 2014 in her home.
Linda was born May 29, 1950 in Chambersburg, PA. She was the daughter of Gail I. (Nicarry) Negley of Chambersburg and the late Clarence Negley Jr.
She was the loving wife of 43 years to I. David Shank. Linda was a homemaker all of her life and she supported her husband’s ministry with gracious hospitality. She was a member of the Trinity Fellowship Church of the Brethren of Waynesboro.
Linda was a 1971 graduate of Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing and used her skills to care for many. She worked for the Waynesboro Hospital, Western Maryland Hospital and served as delegating nurse at the Maugansville Mennonite Home and at the Fellowship Mennonite Home of Hagerstown. She most recently worked for Hospice of Washington County.
Her interests included knitting and gardening.
Surviving family in addition to her mother and husband are her five children, Janelle Long and husband Lamar of Greencastle, Jesslyn Stoner and husband Jeff of McConnellsburg, Rosene Sollenberger and husband Joel of Mercersburg, Sheldon and wife Jolene (Lehman) Shank of Hagerstown, Sherwin and wife Rebecca (Cater) Shank of Waterboro, ME, 27 grandchildren, 5 brothers, Roger Negley, Dean Negley, Garnet Negley, Harry Negley and Jerry Negley.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother Ray Negley.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 9 at 10:30 AM from the Upton Church of the Brethren on 8490 Warm Spring Road Greencastle, PA with Ministers Garnet Myers, Earl Eby, Joel Sollenberger and Jeff Stoner officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the Upton Church of the Brethren on Monday from 1- 3 PM and 6 – 8 PM and one hour before the service on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to Hospice of Washington County 747 Northern Ave. Hagerstown, MD 21742 or to the Trinity Fellowship Church of the Brethren C/O Joel Metzler, Treasurer, 786 Leitersburg Rd.
